If you like the car chases of Fast and the Furious but wish it had less charisma and the occasional courtroom scene, then you might find something interesting about In The Grey, the latest from writer-director Guy Ritchie (Snatched, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). I did not. And this feels more like AI-generated Ritchie than anything with the frenetic energy of his early movies.

Eiza Gonzalex is Rachel, a lawyer who specializes in working with super-rich people and works inside and outside the law to, I don’t know, recover money, I guess? It doesn’t matter. Really. Sid (Henry Cavill) and Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal) work for her. Rosamund Pike is a client, but also kind of her enemy. And she works out in her office clothes. I guess because she was only contracted to appear in one room throughout the whole movie. There’s gun fights. Car chases. Judges orders. And a billionaire baddie (Carlos Bardem, Javier’s brother) making threats and looking mad. Fisher Stevens offers a little (very little) levity as the bad guy lawyer.

The plot is… oh who cares. The movie is a slog, but mostly harmless and over quickly. It’s pretty people doing things that don’t make sense but look cool. If that’s enough for you – have at it.
