A suburban dad falls hard for his charismatic new neighbor.
Review
Andrew DeYoung’s directorial debut, Friendship, is a laugh-out-loud comedy that delivers. Tim Robinson is hilarious as the main character, and the supporting cast, including Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Paul Rudd, are equally brilliant. The film’s humor is relentless, while somehow still allowing the audience to build a connection to these outlandish characters. If you’re looking for a good time at the movies, Friendship is definitely worth the watch.

Tim Robinson gives good cringe. While I had some issues with the initial setup (it feels like the characters didn’t start existing until the movie started), I can’t think of the last time I laughed so hard at the theater.
Robinson is Craig, a hapless office worker who develops a bro-crush on his new neighbor, Austin (Paul Rudd giving his goofy best). Their friendship pretty much tracks through romantic movie tropes from meet cute to courtship to breakup and the ridiculous veers from there.
The less you know going into the better. I can’t imagine anyone who won’t laugh, cringe, gasp and chortle at least once if not throughout the whole thing.
